Sad on Sunday

I know that I am only one of Whitney Houston’s admirers and that everyone who listened to her wonderful voice at the peak of her career will forever miss that bright light.  It makes me sad to know that she died so young, and sadder still to have seen her try so hard to overcome her addictions and make beautiful music again.  Word has it that she was planning a performance that would bring her back to the top of her music.  They said that about Michael Jackson, too.  And how Marilyn Monroe died at the peak of her career; and John Belushi; and Elvis; and James Dean; and all the many others who brought joy into our worlds.  I miss all of them, and now I sadly add Whitney to my list of those I miss: they are legion.
