I just checked the News to see if there was anything I could write about. Yes, there definitely was! In great big headline letters they announced that RADIATION HAS BEEN FOUND 400 MILES FROM JAPAN, from the Fukushima incident. So I am thinking that before long we’ll see it here in the Bay as well. Oh, No!
I quickly turned to the article only to find that the water samples were taken 3 months after the meltdown and that the levels of radiation were well within requirements for safe exposure. Phew!
Still, I find it extremely irritating to be a victim of the bait and switch technique newspeople use. Banner headlines that are scary all by themselves, but then the actual report doesn’t support the hype. Yes, the headline did lead me to read the article, but all the time I was reading, I was feeling disgusted with myself for bothering to finish the article and with them for pulling me into it. Grrrrr!
On a happier note, I think I’ve finally learned how to import images and links here. I found this picture of a Viking fire ceremony by British photographer, John Beardsworth (available at http://www.beardsworth.co.uk) and thought I’d share it with you…
